Cassandra Ty

BIOGRAPHY

Cassandra Tytler is a video artist working across installation and single-channel modes of practice.   Her work explores contemporary cultural iconography, idealised reality and realised fantasy. Fascinated by the symbolism of popular clichés, Tytler employs experimental script writing processes that pastiche isolated, fragmented conventions into compelling, revealing stories.   Her films have screened in numerous festivals including Microcinema all over the U.S.A., Raindance in London and Ohne Kohle in Vienna, and she has exhibited work in a number of galleries such as Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces, Plimsol Gallery, Kings Artist Run Initiative and Westspace Gallery. Tytler completed her Masters degree in Media Arts at R.M.I.T. in 2003. She is currently teaching a class in 'Digital Processes' at Monash University and Comics at Footscray Arts Centre.
