At the heart of representation lies a puncture wound gouged out by a knife.   There is nothing in our culture that is so degraded that it cannot be transformed into a thing of aesthetic beauty - or at the least a tradable commodity.   In fact, the aesthetically pleasing is often where we find the most insidious and malevolent aspects of our culture.
